ASU Athletes Honored By D-II ADA

Twenty-three Angelo State student-athletes were honored Thursday as the NCAA Division II Athletics Directors Association announced its inaugural Athletic Achievement Awards presented by WeatherPORT.

The D-II ADA created the Athletic Achievement Awards to recognize the academic accomplishments of student-athletes at the D-II level.  To be eligible for the honor, a student-athlete must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher, have attended the nominating institution a minimum of two years (or four semesters) and have been an active member of his or her intercollegiate team during the 2007-08 academic year.

Sixty-seven NCAA D-II institutions participated in the program this year with 2,188 student-athletes honored. Angelo State was one of just four schools in the Lone Star Conference to have honorees.  Other LSC schools with selections were Cameron (17), Texas A&M-Commerce (13) and Texas Woman's (26).
