Golf Places Fourth at UCO

The Angelo State women's golf team finished in a tie for fourth at the UCO Broncho Masters at the Fairfax Golf Club in Edmond, Okla.

The Rambelles, who entered the final round in fifth place, shot a team total of 337 to finish in a dead heat with Texas A&M-Commerce with a two-day total of 663. St. Edward's, who was three strokes out of the lead starting play on Tuesday, carded a 321 team score for a two-day total of 629 to win the team title over host Central Oklahoma. UCO posted a 331 on Tuesday for a total of 642 to finish second. Cameron finished third with a 651 total followed by ASU and A&M-C to round out the top five.

Wind played havoc on the par 72, 5,828 yard layout as only four golfers broke 80, one of which was ASU's Raelyn Smith. The junior from Odessa carded a six-over 78 to finish the individual competition in fifth with a 157 total, five strokes behind medalist Emily Leahey of UCO. Dina O'Brien and Kirby Baker of St. Edward's finished tied for second, two shots behind Leahey, at 153 followed by Tasha Marshall from Southwestern Oklahoma in fourth at 155.

Besides Smith, two other Rambelles finished in the top 20 individually. Megan Cisneroz and Brooke Jackson finished at 166 and a tie for 18th. Serena Sosa had a two-day total of 176 for 38th and Ashley Timm shot a 92 to go with her 86 on Monday for a 178 total and a tie for 39th to round out the ASU scoring.

The Rambelles have one more fall tournament before they put up their clubs for the spring. ASU will travel to Kerrville on Oct. 20-21 to compete in the Schreiner Fall Classic at the Scott Schreinder Golf Course.
