Soccer Falls at NSU, 2-1

The Angelo State women's soccer team (8-4-1, 2-1 LSC) had its five-game unbeaten streak come to an end Friday afternoon as the Rambelles fell at Northeastern State, 2-1, in Tahlequah, Okla.

The Rambelles dropped behind in the 16th minute as NSU freshman Celeste St. Gemme netted her second goal of the season for the RiverHawks. ASU would avoid a two-goal deficit going into halftime as Rambelle senior forward Amber Korb cleared a ball that went over the head of keeper Natalie Shannon.

NSU (4-5-2, 2-1-1 LSC) eventually nabbed a 2-0 lead in the 77th minute on a tally by freshman Hannah Struck, her third goal of the year. The Rambelles quickly responded less than a minute later with a goal by freshman LeShea Millard, her second of the season, off of an assist from junior Christian Willman (2), but ASU could not add an equalizer before the buzzer.

Shannon fell to 5-3-1 in goal on the season after making three saves in the losing effort. The two teams took the same amount of shots (11) in the contest with the Rambelles having a slight 7-6 advantage in shots on goal.

The Rambelles will close out their weekend road swing Sunday with 1 p.m. contest at East Central in Ada, Okla.
