The Angelo State women's soccer team (8-7, 2-5 LSC) was handed another tough loss Sunday as the Rambelles fell, 1-0, to Texas Woman's (5-8, 3-3) at the ASU Soccer Field.
The Pioneers scored the only goal of the game in the 17th minute as Chastity Hayter tallied her first goal of the season after a scrum in front of the ASU goal.
Angelo State out-shot the Pioneers, 12-6, but only had six shots on goal as the two teams battled a brutal crosswind through out the afternoon. Junior
Ashley Brown and sophomore
Brandie DeBacker each had two shots on goal. Junior
Melanie Peterson collected four saves in goal for the Rambelles.
The game also served as "Senior Day" for Angelo State as four Rambelles played their final LSC home of their careers. Seniors
Jennifer Bukowski,
Skylar Searles,
Lucy Thompson and
Christian Willman were honored in a pre-game ceremony.
ASU returns to action Friday, Oct. 23, when the Rambelles visit No. 13 West Texas A&M. Game time is 4 p.m. in Canyon.
