The Angelo State women's basketball team (6-7) snapped a four-game losing skid with a 80-60 win at East Central Thursday night in Lone Star Conference crossover play in Ada, Okla.

The 'Belles battled the cold as they headed north of the Red River, but were red-hot in the second half as they opened the new year with a victory. ASU shot 56.3 percent (18-of-32) from the field as a team over the second half to extend a six-point halftime advantage to a 20-point victory.

Junior Camille Perkins led four ASU players in double figures as she ended the night with a game-high 22 points along with a season-best eight rebounds. Perkins would hit 9-of-19 shots from the field, hitting 2-of-5 three-pointers, and was 2-of-2 from the free-throw line. Sophomore Paige Weishuhn added 19 points and senior Lindsey Leatherman-Schaertl and freshman Leah LeMaire both had 10 points. LeMaire would record the first "double-double" of her career as she pulled down a game-high 12 rebounds. Junior Alix Flores led the 'Belles with five assists.

ASU hit just 9-of-38 shots (23.7%) from the floor in the first 20 minutes but limited the host Tigers to just 17.9 percent (5-of-28) and forced 14 ECU turnovers before the break. Leading 28-22 at the break, the 'Belles opened the second half with 13-5 run to extend their lead to 14 points, 41-27, with 16:23 left after an old-fashioned three-point play by Weishuhn. The Tigers would cut the lead back to single digits just once for the remainder of the contest.

The 'Belles would end the game shooting 38.6 percent (27-of-70) from the field, hitting 7-of-20 attempts (35%) from behind the arc, and hit 19-of-29 shots (65.5%) from the free-throw line. ASU would hold a slight rebounding edge over the Tigers, 48-46.

For ECU (8-4), Casi Rawls scored 21 points while Indhira Ramirez came off the bench for 10 points. Laura Harris led the Tigers with nine rebounds. ECU shot 31 percent (18-of-58) from the field on the night, hitting just 5-of-19 shots (26.3%) from three-point range, and shot 76 percent (19-of-25) from the charity stripe.

The 'Belles continue their road trip Saturday as they visit No. 25 Southeastern Oklahoma. Tip-off is 6 p.m. at Sullivan Arena in Durant, Okla.
