The Angelo State women's golf team trimmed four strokes off their first-round score to finish in seventh place after the final round of the St. Edward's Invitational in Austin Tuesday afternoon.
The Rambelles carded a team score of 331 to remain in the same spot they were at after the conclusion of their opening round. Tarleton State followed up its first round with a final round 309 to claim the team title with a two-day total of 320, 16 shots in front to runner-up Western Texas Community College and 28 strokes in front of host St. Edward's.
Individually for ASU, senior Raelyn Smith followed up her first round 82 with a final round 78 to finish at 160 and four-way tie for ninth place in the medalist standings. Freshman Krista Czarnecki, who entered the final round tied with Smith in the medalist standings, shot an 81 to end her tournament in a three-way tie for 18th. WTCC's Katie Mundy rallied from three shots back to take the individual title by one stroke over Tarleton State's Carla Cooper.
Other Rambelle scores saw junior Randee Stegman finish in a tie for 25th with a two-day total of 165, freshman Maury McCormick ending with a 178 total and tied for 62nd while sophomore Jennifer Joyce ended her first tournament as a Rambelle with a 185 total and a six-way tie for 72nd.
The Rambelles are off for eight day before heading west for their next tournament. Angelo State will play in the Desert Invitational in Mesa, Ariz., March 10-11.
