Rams, Rambelles Voted Sixth in LSC Cross Country Poll

The Angelo State men's and women's cross country teams grabbed the sixth spot, respectively, in the Lone Star Conference's cross country preseason poll announced by the league office Thursday afternoon.

The Rams garnered 76 points on the 18 ballots on the men's side while the Rambelles collected 174 points on the 26 women's ballots.

Abilene Christian's men's and women's teams were unanimously selected to repeat as conference champions.  The Wildcats men's team, the NCAA Division II national champions in 2006 and 2007, will be going for its 18th straight league title while the Wildcat women will be looking for its eighth consecutive league crown.

Finishing behind Abilene Christian and ahead of Angelo State in the poll on the men's side were East Central with 117 points, Tarleton State with 116 points, Cameron with 93 points and Texas A&M-Commerce with 91 points.  Between ACU and ASU in the women's poll were Tarleton State with 266 points, Central Oklahoma with 231 points, West Texas A&M with 224 points and Southwestern Oklahoma with 183 points.

Rounding out the men's side are Eastern New Mexico with 74 points, West Texas A&M with 50 points and Texas A&M-Kingsville with 31 points.  Completing the women's poll were East Central with 163 points, Midwestern State with 124 points, Texas A&M-Kingsville with 113 points, Eastern New Mexico with 107 points, Texas A&M-Commerce with 80 points and Southeastern Oklahoma with 51 points.
