Rams Return to Campus This Week

The much anticipated start of the new football season gets a little closer this week as the Angelo State football team begins fall drills Friday.  The Rams open up two-a-days later this week as the start of the regular season is just over three weeks away.

"We're very excited," said ASU fourth-year head coach Dale Carr.  "We have been a young squad the past two seasons and we expect to be much more competitive in the Lone Star Conference this season as we have matured as a group."

Angelo State will open fall drills with over 110 student-athletes and have 13 practices and two scrimmages practices before the players begin school on Monday, Aug. 25.  Scrimmages are scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 13, and Tuesday, Aug. 19, both at 6:30 p.m. at San Angelo Stadium.

"We are bigger, faster and stronger than any team we've had since I've been here," Carr continued.  "We have great competition at each and every position and that should make for a very exciting fall for the Rams."

Angelo State kicks off the 2008 season on Saturday, Aug. 30, with a road trip to Texas State in San Marcos.  Game time is 7 p.m. at Bobcat Stadium.
