After serving as a graduate assistant for the two seasons, Katie Naumoff has been announced as the new assistant coach for the Angelo State softball program. Naumoff fills the position left open by the departure of Claudia Lopez after the conclusion of the 2009 season.
“We are very pleased to have the opportunity to hire Coach Naumoff as a full-time assistant," said ASU head softball coach Travis Scott. "She has been with the program for two seasons and understands Angelo State Softball. Coach Naumoff will be a big asset to the program in the office, in recruiting and on the field.”
A native of Poland, Ohio, Naumoff joined the ASU coaching staff prior to the 2008 campaign as a graduate assistant. She has helped lead the Rambelles to back-to-back Lone Star Conference title for just the second time in program history. Over the past two seasons, ASU boasted a record of 98-22, hosted two NCAA Division II South Central Region Tournaments and advanced to the NCAA D-II National Finals this past spring.
Naumoff came to ASU after completing her playing career at Florida Tech where she was a three-time all-conference pick and posted a career .361 batting average. As a junior with the Panthers, Naumoff collected first team all-region honors.
She claimed her bachelor's degree from Florida Tech in 2007 and completed her master's degree at ASU just prior to the Rambelles run to the national tournament this past season. Naumoff will begin her new position Aug. 1.
