The Angelo State soccer team (10-9, 4-6 LSC) closed out the season on a high note Sunday afternoon with a 1-0 win at Midwestern State.
The Rambelles had just one shot on goal but took advantage of it as freshman Lauren Carnes scored her first goal of her career in the 60th minute to life ASU to the victory. Carnes' goal was made possible on a breakaway after assisting passes from senior Skylar Searles and sophomore Brandie DeBacker. It was Searles' second assist of the season and DeBacker's first assist of the year.
Junior Melanie Peterson picked up her fifth shutout of the season as she collected six saves. Angelo State managed just six shots on the afternoon, two each coming from Carnes and senior Christian Willman.
The Mustangs (12-4-2, 6-4 LSC) took 22 shots in the contest, six of which were on goal.
With the win, the Rambelles locked up their fifth winning season in the past eight years and their sixth-ever 10th win season. It is ASU's fifth 10-win season over the past seven years.
