Angelo State head baseball coach Kevin Brooks announced that Dylan Petrich, an outfielder at Texas A&M, has transfered to ASU to play for the Rams in 2010.
Petrich started 34 of 44 games for the Aggies in 2009 and helped the Aggies earn a berth in the NCAA Division I Fort Worth Regional tournament. The Wichita, Kan., native batted .254 with two doubles, one triple, four home runs, 19 runs scored and 17 RBI in 130 plate appearances.
Prior to his arrival at College Station, Petrich played two seasons at Butler Community College in El Dorado, Kan., and earned a second-team all-conference selection as a sophomore batting .408 with three home runs, 49 RBI and 58 runs. His freshman campaign saw him bat .392 with 65 hits, nine doubles and 38 RBI, helping the Grizzlies to the Region VI semifinals and earning Petrich first-team all-region and all-conference selections and a preseason All-American nod the following year.
The Rams begin the 2010 season at home against Ouachita Baptist. The two teams will play a four-game series comprised of two doubleheaders beginning Feb. 6 at Foster Field.
