On the back of five All-America performances on Saturday, the Angelo State men's track and field team placed eighth at the 2009 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field National Championships at the LeGrand Sports Complex.

The solid day was capped a fourth-place finish by the Rams in the 4x400-meter relay, finishing in a season-best time of 3:10.86.

ASU added a fourth-place finish by Jeremy Jones in the 400-meter hurdles, running the event in 52.60, and three seventh-place finishes on Saturday. Tyler Orlando opened the day with an All-American performance in the javelin throw, finishing seventh at 197'6". Ryan McWilliams, coming off a runner-up finish in the decathlon Friday, placed seventh in the 110-meter hurdles in a time of 14.40. James Howell also earned All-America honors, placing seventh in the 400-meter dash in a time of 47.12.

The Rams ended the three-day event with 27 points for their best finish since placing sixth in 2002, the last time the event took place in San Angelo. The top-ten finish was the 26th in school history, but just second since 2002. The ASU men finished 10th at the 2007 meet.
