A Face in the Crowd

Angelo State heptathlete Aisha Adams is spotlighted in the June 22 issue of Sports Illustrated as part of the "Faces in the Crowd" section.

Adams, a sophomore from Covington, Tenn., captured media attention last month after competing in seven events at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field National Championships. Adams claimed the title in the heptathlon and placed second in two other individual events at the national meet.

The 2009 NCAA D-II National Female Field Athlete of the Year added runner-up finishes in both the 400-meter hurdles and long jump and was part of the Rambelles' school-record 4x400-meter relay squad in the finals. She also competed in the high jump, triple jump and 100-meter hurdles during the championships.

Adams will be competing in the heptathlon at the USA Track & Field National Championships, June 26-27, in Eugene, Ore.

The Rambelles placed second at the NCAA D-II Meet, the highest finish in program history. Adams sparked the Rambelles to school-record 82 points at the meet, three shy of national champion Lincoln.

The issue, featuring NBA Finals MVP Kobe Bryant, on the cover, will be on newsstands this week. For an online preview of the section, click here.
