Tuesday night's Student-Athlete Ice Breaker sponsored by the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) in the Junell Center was designed to help current Rams and Rambelles get to know each other in a new and different way. A mad dash, shoe hunt featuring more than 300 one-soled student-athletes made sure that shoe size and style preference was part of the information exchanged.
The entire Angelo State athletic community met on the floor in Stephens Arena for a time of socializing, games and words of support from university leaders like Dr. Joseph C. Rallo, ASU's president. After introductory words from the SAAC student leadership, the student-athletes were divided into teams for several small group ice breaker competitions.
All of the evening's events built towards the grand finale, a duel to find each individual's own shoe in a pile of more than 300 sneakers and sandals. Footwear was collected and thrown in the middle of the court, after which each team sent one member at a time in a race against the other squads. Inside Angelo Sports captured some of the shenanigans in a video below.
