LUBBOCK – Angelo State freshman Kati Holly registered the ninth-best high jump in the country and the Rambelles' 4x400 relay team ran its fastest time of the season as the women's indoor track and field team posted or improved upon six NCAA provisional qualifying marks at the Texas Tech Octagonal Friday.
Holly won the women's high jump after she cleared a season-best 1.71 meters and improve upon her previous NCAA qualifying mark and the 4x400 relay team of Chrystal Ruiz, Theresa Sue, Tiffany Wilcox and Andria Nussey ran a 3:51.38 to post its first provisional qualifying time of the year. Wilcox also posted a provisional qualifying time in the 60 meter run, with a converted time of 7.75 seconds.
Bree Bennett and Ruiz both improved their 60 meter hurdle marks, and Bennett sits at No. 13 in the country at 8.79 seconds. Ruiz, already a qualifier in the pentathlon, also posted a provisionally qualifying leap of 5.61 meters in the long jump Friday.
As of late Saturday night, Angelo State had a total of 10 provisional qualifying marks in eight different events. Four of those marks ranked among the top-10 in the nation – Nussey (800 meter), Holly, Kelsey Wilson (pole vault) and Ruiz (pentathlon) – and are in good shape to hold as national qualifying performances when the NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field Championships begin next month in Albuquerque, N.M.
