SAN ANTONIO – Courtney Rutledge finished in the top 25 after shooting an 85 in the final round of the Lady Rattler Roundup at the par-72, 5,933-yard Pecan Valley Country Club Tuesday. Rutledge led the team to an eighth place finish in the 13-team field as the Rambelles shot a 324-343—667 (+91).
Rutledge's final round gave her a 164 total for the tournament and the freshman tied for 23rd overall, her best finish in five career events. Only one of the 13 teams in the field managed to cut down their strokes from the opening round as colder weather and strong winds made the course more difficult. Despite adding 14 strokes to its opening round total, St. Edwards held on to the team title with a 608 (+32) and were led by individual champion Wallis Spears 71-78—149 (+5).
Krista Czarnecki tied for the team lead on Tuesday with an 85 and finished tied for 37th with a 168 (+24) total.
Randee Stegman was one off the team leaders in the final round with an 86 and finished tied for 34th after shooting a 24-over-167 for the tournament.
Maury McCormick also contributed to the team's score with a 173 (+29).
Skylar Smith competed unattached for the Rambelles and finished her first collegiate tournament tied for 37th with a 168 (+24) total.
The Rambelles continues their spring schedule with a trip to Austin to play in the St. Edward's Tournament at Grey Rock Country Club (Feb. 28-March 1).
