ADA, Okla. -
Junior Zach Cohen drove in four runs and crossed the plate three times as Angelo State split a doubleheader at East Central Saturday afternoon. In the night cap, four Rams combined for nine RBIs and five runs on nine hits to help ASU to a 12-5 victory after dropping game one 8-7.

After East Central (4-9, 1-8 LSC) put up three runs in the bottom of the first, the Rams' TJ Bozeman (2-2) was able to limit the Tigers to just one hit over the next three innings. Bozeman's solid performance allowed the Rams' offense to mount a comeback in the top of the fifth.

Angelo State (8-7, 5-7 LSC) took advantage of a base on balls to Garrett Harris to lead off the frame. Shortstop Brent Denny reached base after getting hit by a pitch and Marcellous Biggins loaded the bases after he too was beaned. Toby Semler got the Rams on the board as he reached on a fielder's choice which plated Harris as Biggins was out at second.

With one out in the fifth, Cohen singled to right driving in Denny. Designated hitter Travis Lites reached on a bunt to load the bases and Tate Allison singeld up the middle scoring Semler and Cohen to put ASU up 4-3. The Rams weren't done scoring as first baseman Zak Leonhardt roped a double into the right-centerfield gap plating Lites and Allison to give the Rams a 6-3 advantage.

The Tigers cut the Rams lead to two (6-4) as Tyle Hankins doubled and later scored on a single up the middle by Justin Gibson.

However, Angelo State would score three more runs in the seventh and tack on one in the eighth and two in the ninth to win the game 12-5. Bozeman collected the victory allowing four runs, all earned, on six hits in 6.0 innings. The right-hander walked four and struck out seven in the contest.

East Central's Joey Pavlovich (1-1) took the loss after surrendering six runs, all earned, on three hits, walking two and fanning four in 4.1 innings of work.

In game one, the two squads only needed two innings to score. East Central jumped ahead first as the Tigers plated two in the bottom of the second. However, Angelo State sent 10 batters to the plate in the top of the third and scored seven runs in the frame to take a 7-2 lead.

The Tigers rallied back and scored six runs in the bottom of the third after batting around. Down by one run, the Rams were unable to mount a come back and dropped an 8-7 decision to East Central.

ASU reliever Criag Blair suffered the loss allowing two runs, none of which were earned, on two hits in just 0.1 innings. ECU's Jeremy Custer tossed a complete game going 7.0 innings and allowing seven runs, four earned, on eight hits, walking one and collecting one strikeout.

The Rams return to Foster Field Friday, March 4, to take on Lone Star Conference foe Southeastern Oklahoma. First pitch is set for 7 p.m.
