Neiswander Participates in Pro Day at ACU

ABILENE, Texas – Former Angelo State quarterback Josh Neiswander worked out and threw in front of scouts from nearly 20 National Football League teams at the Abilene Christian University Pro Day at Wally Bullington Practice Field Monday.

"I felt like it went well,” Neiswander said. “The wide receivers did a good job running their routes and catching the ball. I just want to thank (ACU head coach) Chris Thomsen for letting me come up here and throw and be a part of this."

Neiswander completed a throwing session for all the scouts in attendance and had a side session with the Houston Texans. Neiswander also had a one-on-one meeting with the Carolina Panthers. Neiswander graduated from Angelo State in December with his master's of business administration and has been training for a professional career since. Neiswander, who set 18 single-season and career records during his time at Angelo State, knows there's a tall task ahead but is hopeful for an opportunity.

"There's always going to be a learning curve, but especially for a quarterback,” Neiswander said. “It's going to take some time, but I definitely believe I can play at the next level. I've been in a pro-style offense for five years, and I believe that will help me. I believe I've got a really good chance (to play in the NFL). I've gotten a lot of good feedback from different teams and for the most part they've like what they've seen."

Since his last game at Angelo State, Neiswander was named MVP of the All-American Bowl in Minneapolis, a NCAA Division II and Division III all-star game, and participated in the Eastham Energy College All-Star Game in Tempe, Ariz., a NCAA Division I all-star showcase. On the same day as Neiswander's workout, Angelo State's football team was set to kickoff spring practice at the LeGrand Sports Complex in San Angelo.
