TAHLEQUAH, Okla. – Garrett Harris laced three doubles en route to a 14-11 Angelo State win, which snapped a program record 10-game losing streak, lifting the Rams over Northeastern State in the night cap. The victory came on the heels of an eight-inning 6-5 loss in game one.
Harris went 3-for-3 with a trio of doubles, two runs scored and four runs batted in for ASU (18-17, 12-12 LSC) in game two, while
Joseph Leftridge finished the game going 3-for-4 with one run and four RBIs.
The Rams' offense did not waste any time as they plated four runs in the top of the first to take a 4-0 lead.
Zach Cohen led the game off with a base on balls and
Travis Lites advanced Cohen to third with a double down the right field line. Leftridge singled back up the middle giving Angelo State a two run lead, then stole second and later scored on a Harris double to right-center field. Harris moved to third on a Northeastern State (5-24, 4-21 LSC) error and scored on a sacrifice fly by
Toby Semler which knocked out NSU starter Roldan Ochoa (0-4).
Ochoa absorbed the loss after surrendering four runs, three earned, on three hits in the first inning without recording an out.
Angelo State did not waiver after the RiverHawks' three-run third inning. The Rams countered with a three-run inning of their own in the top of the fourth. ASU added to its 7-3 lead when it plated five runs in the top of the fifth to take a commanding 12-3 advantage.
The RiverHawks plated a pair in the bottom half of the frame, however Angelo State scored two more in the top of the sixth to increase its lead to 14-7.
Northeastern State tried to rally in the bottom of the seventh as the RiverHawks scored four runs, but Rams' reliever
James Conlee came in and closed the door on NSU.

Chase Barrera (1-1) collected the win, his first of the season, after allowing five runs, all earned, on nine hits in 5.0 innings of work. Barrera walked two and struck out five in the game.
In game one, the two teams matched each other run-for-run in the scheduled seven inning affair. ASU starter
Rick Reyna allowed four runs, three earned, on five hits in 6.0 innings pitched. He walked four and struck out three as the picked up the no decision.
Heading into the eighth inning with the game knotted at five, David Zavala belted a two-out solo home run off of Conlee (4-2) to win the game for the RiverHawks in walk-off fashion.
Conlee suffered the loss after pitching 1.2 innings and allowing two runs, one earned, on three hits. He did not issue a walk and fanned two in the nightcap.
Northeastern State's Miles Yarnell (1-0) picked up his first win of the season after pitching 2.0 innings of scoreless baseball. He did not allow a base hit, walked one and fanned three.
The Rams return to San Angelo as they host Central Oklahoma in a three-game Lone Star Conference series beginning with a single game Friday, April 10, at 7 p.m. and a doubleheader Saturday, April 11, starting at 1 p.m. Live stats, live streaming and live audio will be available for all three games.
