Neiswander Hopeful as NFL Draft Nears

SAN ANGELO – Former Angelo State quarterback Josh Neiswander had to cancel plans with the girl of his dreams in case he lands the job of his dreams. Instead of taking engagement pictures with his fiancée Saturday, Neiswander will be like millions of other American males, glued to ESPN's coverage of the NFL Draft. Unlike most of the other viewers however, there's a chance Neiswander's name will be called on the final day of the three-day event as several teams have expressed interest.

It's been a whirlwind final season for Neiswander. After scorching the ASU record books en route to more than 18 single-game, season and career passing records, the Winnsboro native proposed to his girlfriend Lindsay and graduated with a master's of business administration in early December. He's spent the last several months training in Dallas – competing in two postseason football showcase games and at the Abilene Christian Pro Day. Throughout the process, Neiswander has been in constant contact with several NFL teams and could be a late-round selection or sign as a free agent Saturday.

Neiswander was back in San Angelo Monday night for the Holland's Sports Banquet, during which he won the 2010 Holland's Award for football, and he sat down with Inside AngeloSports.com to talk about what he's been doing and what the future may hold.
