Texas Relays Live Results
AUSTIN – Angelo State's
Brian Holik and
Jeffrey Jones both hit NCAA Division II provisional qualifying times and ran their way into the finals of the college division 400-meter hurdles on the second day of the 84th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays Thursday.
Holik ran the third-fastest time in prelims when he crossed the finish line in 52.79 seconds. Jones qualified for Saturday's final as the No. 7 seed with a time of 53.58 seconds. Both ran faster than the 53.90 required to provisionally qualify for the 2011 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
“I'm really excited about them getting to the finals, but more importantly they finally hit those qualifying marks,” Angelo State head coach
James Reid said. “I really feel like we are ahead of where we were at this point last year. It's so exciting with regards to what the rest of the season holds and it all starts Saturday afternoon in the finals.”
The rest of Thursday's competition was mostly multi-event competition. The Texas Relays, which opened Wednesday, crank up Friday as more individual races and relays get going.
