Taylor Garners Daktronics All-America Accolades

SAN ANGELO – After graduating with a degree in kinesiology and minors in chemistry and physical science earlier this month, Kaycee Taylor has something else to be proud of. The Carrollton native was named to the 2011 Daktronics All-America Third Team as announced by Daktronics Thursday morning.

The honors came on the heels of earning First Team honors on the NFCA Division II South Central Region team last week. Taylor wrapped up her final season with the Belles softball team with a team-leading .360 batting average, 33 runs scored, 32 runs batted in, 17 doubles, five home runs and one triple. The designated player and first baseman collected the accolades as a DP for the Belles after helping Angelo State capture its sixth regular-season championship.

Taylor is a four-time All-Lone Star Conference honoree and a two-time All-American. She concluded her career at Angelo State tied for first on the career walks list with 123.

In her final season in Blue and Gold, Taylor guided the Belles to a 45-15 overall record and a 21-3 LSC mark in which Angelo State started the season on an impressive 18-game winning streak and the nationally ranked Belles rose as high as No. 1 in the rankings.
