SAN ANGELO, Texas – The Angelo State men's basketball team held UTPB to five percent from the three-point line and hit nine threes of its own to take a 72 to 60 victory at Stephens Arena in the Junell Center on Tuesday.

The Rams (9-11, 2-8 Lone Star Conference) went five of 10 from behind the arch in the first half with two of those coming from freshman Justin Walling in his first start. The Falcons (7-12, 1-5 Heartland) were held to 30 percent from the field and went 0-of-8 from three-point land.  UTPB was able to keep the score close in forcing 11 Angelo State turnovers.

The second half started slow with only four points being scored in the first three minutes of the half. The Rams found their stride over the next seven minutes as Joey Lenox sparked a 17-7 run with a three pointer at the 16:23 mark. Lenox ended the game with 12 points and three of those were from three's. The Falcons were held to 1-of-19 from behind the arch in the game.

Hanif Nixon-Hughes scored 11 of his 15 points in the second half and the Rams shot 73 percent from the charity stripe to put the Falcons away. Coleman led Angelo State with 20 points on the night and five assists.

Angelo State will now have off until Wednesday, Feb. 1 when it will host Cameron at 7:30 p.m. in Stephens Arena at the Junell Center.
