DeBacker Earns NSCAA Women's College Scholar All-South Team Honor

SAN ANGELO – The awards keep arriving for Brandie DeBacker months after her stellar soccer career at Angelo State came to a close.

The senior forward has been named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America's Women's College Scholar All-South Team – an honor that no other player from the Lone Star Conference and only six other Texas players received this season. DeBacker, who possesses a 3.48 GPA to go along with her on-field product and leadership, is studying exercise and sports science and will graduate in May. She is planning on attending physical therapy school following graduation.

DeBacker, who is from New Braunfels, finished the 2011 season with a team-leading nine goals and was the first Rambelle to be selected to the Lone Star Conference's first-team since 2004. She has also been selected to the LSC all-tournament team for the second straight season, the District 6 Capital One Academic All-District women's soccer team, the LSC all-academic team, and the NSCAA Division II South Central Region's third team.

DeBacker completed her four-year career at Angelo State with 34 goals and 80 points. Both marks put her second all-time the ASU record books.
