SAN ANGELO, Texas – The Angelo State women's basketball team host the Cameron Aggies on Wednesday, 5:30 p.m. in a Lone Star Conference battle. The Belles look to add to their perfect 5-0 mark in league play at Stephens Arena in the Junell Center.

The Belles (10-8, 8-4 LSC) and the Aggies (13-5, 9-4 LSC) are separated by only a game in the conference standings. CU currently is tied for third with West Texas A&M while Angelo State sits alone in fourth place.

ASU lost a 56-50 contest earlier this season at Cameron on Dec. 7 during the middle of the Belles finals week, but still hold a 23-18 all-time advantage over the Aggies.

Angelo State missed on the opportunity to move into third place with Cameron's 68-49 loss to Tarleton State last Wednesday, as the Belles fell in their rematch with Texas Woman's that same evening, 53-47, in Denton.

ASU's Lauren Holt had a career-high 14 points and 10 rebounds for her second double-double of the season against the Pioneers in the Belles' lone contest last week. The sophomore forward has had strong back-to-back performances the last two games, leading the team in scoring (13.0 PPG), rebounding (9.0 RPG) and assists (3.0 APG) while shooting over .600 percent from the field.

On the year, Holt is third on the team in scoring with 8.0 PPG, behind Paige Weishuhn 's 12.1 and Haylee Oliver's 11.3, but is averaging a team-leading 6.6 boards per contest. The twin-tower combination of Holt and Weishuhn has combined for 36 blocks on the season contributing to the Belles 4.1 BPG average, second in the LSC.

Defense will be at a premium as both the Belles and the Aggies are among the top defensive units in the conference. Cameron is first in the league in scoring defense (54.6 PPG), field-goal defense (.330), 3-point defense (.232) and blocked shots (4.4).

ASU is not far behind ranking second in scoring defense (56.0) and field goal defense (.349) and third in 3-point defense (.250).

The Aggies rebounded on Saturday winning at Texas A&M-Commerce, 63-51. Senior forwards Julie Paunovic (14.3) and Sabelle Diata (13.3) are the top two of four double-digit scorers for Cameron. Diata (9.3) and Paunovic (7.0) are also the team's leading rebounders.
