SAN ANGELO – The Angelo State volleyball team is back in the American Volleyball Coaches Association's national top-10.
The Belles (18-3, 11-1 Lone Star Conference) reentered at No. 9 on Monday after a four-week absence that saw them as the nation's 11
th and 12
th ranked team. ASU went 2-0 last weekend with road wins over Midwestern State and Cameron.
“It is certainly a goal of this program to consistently be ranked in the top 10 nationally,” ASU head coach
Chuck Waddington said. “However, I hope our players have learned after our first stint in the top 10 that it is something that has to be earned day in and day out on the practice court and during competition.”

ASU, which started the season at No. 15, is currently on a five-match winning streak going into a 7 p.m. match on Friday against Abilene Christian at the Junell Center. The No. 9 ranking is the highest the Belles have been in program history and the team is currently in first place in the LSC after West Texas A&M dropped a match on Saturday to Abilene Christian.
The Belles are hitting at a .241 percentage this season, while opponents have been limited to a .119 percentage. ASU has won 13 of its last 14 matches and have swept 13 opponents this season.
“If we want to stay in the top 10, we have to pursue it relentlessly,” Waddington added. “Getting there is hard, but staying there is quite a bit harder.”
