Belles Earn 53-43 Win Over TAMU International in Denton

DENTON – Haylee Oliver scored 16 points to help lead the Angelo State women's basketball team to 53-43 win over Texas A&M International on the final day of the Marriott Champions Circle Pioneer Premiere at the Kitty Magee Arena.

The Belles (2-1) used an 8-0 run late in the second half to break open the game which was at 25-23 at halftime. ASU shot 45 percent from the field in the second half and made 13 of its 18 attempts from the free-throw line to bounce back a loss on Saturday against Central Oklahoma.

Oliver scored 11 of her 16 points in the second half and also added nine rebounds for the Belles. Lauren Holt pulled down 11 rebounds – nine on the defensive end – and also led ASU with four assists. Chesney Neely had eight points with four of them coming on free throws, while Faith Hunt had seven rebounds and Giselle Aguirre and Cassi Stegall each contributed six points.

The ASU defense limited Texas A&M International to a 24.6 shooting percentage in the game and forced 22 turnovers.

Tina Dang TAMU International with 19 points and four steals, while Alexis Thomas and Rosebud Guthrie each had seven rebounds for the Dustdevils.
