CANYON, Texas – The Angelo State women's basketball team dropped a close 65-62 game to Southwestern Oklahoma State at the Lady Buff Thanksgiving Classic held in Canyon.
The Belles (2-2) were held to two points and missed three jumpers in the last 1:38 of the game. In comparison Southwestern Oklahoma State (3-1) scored five points and hit three free throws to ice the game. The game had nine lead changes including seven in the second half.
Angelo State had a three-point lead at half at 31-28 behind
Faith Hunt's nine points. All nine points came by way of the three point line in Hunt's second start of the season. The freshman scored 11 points in the game.
Lauren Holt led the team's second half efforts with 14 of her game high 22 points. She grabbed 14 rebounds for her fourth-straight game with double-digit rebounds and her second double-double of the season.
Southwestern Oklahoma State was led by SaRaya Oyler's 13 points. MaRiah Olyer and Sarah Mendoza both chipped in 10 points each.
The Belles will play tomorrow against McMurry at 2 p.m. in the Lady Buff Thanksgiving Classic. The game will be broadcasted by Jeremy Bryant on 1260AM KKSA.
