SAN ANGELO, Texas – The Angelo State women's basketball team will host Lubbock Christian Lady Chaparrals, the No. 1 ranked NAIA women's team, in an exhibition game tomorrow night at 7 p.m. at Stephens Arena inside the Junell Center.
Sally Walling Brooks returns nine players from last year's squad that advanced to the Lone Star Conference semifinals. It is the 13
th season that Brooks has been head coach of the Belles. Sophomore
Haylee Oliver is the Belles returning leading scorer at 11.1 per game and was named the LSC Freshman of the Year for her play last year.
The Belles are a young squad with only two seniors in
Ashley James and
Morgan Youngblood. The team also has two juniors (
Lauren Holt,
Leah LeMaire), seven sophomores (
Giselle Aguirre,
Cassi Stegall,
Haylee Oliver,
Sierra Honea,
Devon Wilde,
Karli Kellermeier and
Chesney Neely) and four freshmen (
Jennifer Lapp, Bria Platenburg,
Faith Hunt, and
Amanda Weaver).
Lubbock Christian comes into the game at 2-0 on the season. The game is scheduled to tip at 7 p.m.
