SAN ANGELO – The Angelo State volleyball team finished the season at No. 10 in the final American Volleyball Coaches Association poll of the year.

The Belles (29-6) were the Lone Star Conference's regular-season champions for the first time since 1992 and were NCAA DII South Central Regional Championship finalist for the first time in program history. The team had three AVCA All-Americans, four South Central regional selections and eight players were honored with postseason conference awards.

ASU started 2012 with a preseason ranking of No. 15 and never dropped below that mark. The team was ranked No. 9 in five of the season's 13 AVCA polls and No. 11 four times.

The Belles won four matches this season against teams that finished in the top-25, including beating No. 22 Adams State in the regional quarterfinals and No. 13 Regis in the semifinals. ASU also earned wins over No. 9 West Texas A&M and No. 19 Cal State San Bernardino. Concordia-St. Paul finishes the season ranked No. 1 after winning the NCAA DII Championship last week with a five-set victory over No. 2 Tampa in the finals.
