SAN ANGELO, Texas – The Angelo State men's basketball team had LaDonn Huckaby tie a career high with 20 points but were unable to win on the road as Texas A&M-Kingsville won 82-71 at Hampton Inn Court.
 
The Rams (10-15, 3-12) and jumped out to a 6-2 lead over Texas A&M-Kingsville (12-14, 7-10) with all six points coming from Huckaby. The lead was extended to eight at 16-8 on a three by Huckaby. The eight point lead was the largest of the game for the Rams.
 
The Javelinas battled back with seven three-pointers in the first half. The last one by Reid Wallace that gave Texas A&M-Kingsville a 34-32 halftime lead over the Rams.
 
Huckaby led the Rams with 16 of his career high 20 points in the first half. A total of eight Angelo State players scored in the first half. Derryl Nash (11) and Ryan Lassard (10) led Texas A&M-Kingsville into the half.
 
The second half saw Texas A&M-Kingsville cool form the three-point line but the Javelinas shot 54 percent from the field. The Rams fell behind 50-41 at the 13:11 mark as Texas A&M-Kingsville went on a 7-0 run.
 
Kennen Coleman scored 16 of his 18 points in the second half to keep the Rams close. Joey Lenox hit a three pointer with 2:48 to go to cut the Javelinas lead to nine but the Rams would get no closer.
 
Ryan Lassard led Texas A&M-Kingsville with 26 points and seven assists.
 
The Rams will come back to Stephens Arena in the Junell Center for the Lone Star Conference Game of the Week to face Incarnate Word at 7:30 p.m. The game will be webcasted on FoxSportsSouthwest.com and the radio call will be heard locally on KKSA 1260AM.
