SAN ANGELO, Texas – Six Rambelles were honored with nine South Central All-Region awards for the NCAA Division II indoor track & field season announced by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
“We are extremely excited about having the number of kids on the all-region especially considering we are in a very difficult region,” head coach
James Reid said. “When you have to compete with not only the LSC but the MIAA, it is one makes it one of the tougher regions. If you finish in the top five in our region you really accomplish something. I was excited by the number of events we were represented in and the fact we have young kids being honored is exciting. I hope we can use it as a springboard into the outdoor season. ”
The top five competitors in each region in an individual event and each member of a relay ranked in the region's top three earned the award.
The six Rambelles honored were
Lexi Brooks (4x400M),
Kelsey Coffman (pole vault),
Jaylen Rodgers (4x400M), Chrystal Ruiz (400M, 4x400M, high jump, pentathlon),
Theresa Sue (4x400M) and
Summer Sutherland (pole vault).
Ruiz is one of 16 competitors to be named all-region in at least four events. A total of 1,012 student-athletes received 1,476 USTFCCCA All-Region nods.
