Michael Lange went five innings of shutout baseball to lead Angelo State to a 2-0 win over Ouachita Baptist in the first game of a doubleheader on Saturday at Foster Field.
Toby Semler led the Rams (2-0) with three hits, while
Ryan Greer went 1-for-2 with an RBI single that scored
Tate Allison.
Brett Parsons scored the Rams' first run on a double steal in the first inning.
Lange, a transfer from Mesa Community College, allowed only four hits and struck out four in his first start as a Ram.
James Conlee allowed one hit and struck out one in one inning of relief, while Weatherly picked up the save with a seventh inning apperance that saw him walk two but strike out three. He stranded runners at second and third base to close out the game.
Quaid McKinnon,
Jake Feckley and Allison added hits for the Rams' offense which had eight hits in 24 plate appearances.
The Rams and Tigers (0-2) are set to begin the second game of the day at 2:10 p.m.
Travis Stavinoha is starting for ASU, and Ryan Westover goes for OBU.
