Rams & Belles Have Strong Showing at Tech

A combined five NCAA provisional marks were earned

SAN ANGELO, Texas – The Angelo State track & field teams had its best meet of the season with improvements across the board and five NCAA provisional marks at the Texas Tech Open in Lubbock on Saturday.
 
Angelo State was well represented in the 55M hurdles on the women's side. Chrystal Ruiz ran her fastest time of the season with a NCAA provisional time of 8.18 in the prelims. Cathryn Rittenberry fastest of the day came in the final with an 8.36 and Jordan Gray's best time was an 8.65.
 
Ruiz continued improving on her season best in the high jump. The Bandera native cleared 5'-7” (1.70M) and moved up the NCAA list with her second provisional mark of the day. Kati Holly cleared 5'-1” (1.55M) for 12th.
 
Kimberly Williams had her best throw of the season in the shot put. Her mark of 42'-4.25” (12.91M) put her in second place.
 
Ruiz placed sixth in the long jump with a mark of 18'-3” (5.56M) while teammate Theresa Sue was 15th with a jump of 17'-6.25” (5.34M).
 
Two runners finished in the top 25 of the 400M. Jaylen Rodger ran a 59.92 for 24th with Lexi Brooks right behind her in 59.99 for 25th place.
                                                                                                                                    
Alyssa Priest ran a 5:22.92 in the mile with teammate Emeline Crutcher slightly behind her in a time of 5:31.05. Priest placed ninth while Crutcher crossed in 14th.
 
The Belles had two in the 3000M with Katy Williams and Annifer Flores. Williams finished in 11th with a 10:54.68 and Flores placed 19th with a time of 11:14.26.
 
On the men's side Austin Slone has a strong start to his season. Slone finished in fifth place in the triple jump with a jump of 46'-11.50” (14.31M) and his first NCAA provisional mark of the season.
 
Patrick Hunter made his career debut with a mark of 22'-3.75” (6.80M) in the long jump to place seventh. Hunter came back to get a mark of 46'-00” (14.02M) in the triple jump for eighth.
 
Bryan Barker opened his season up with an 8:56.48 in the 3000M for a ninth place finish.
 
Nick Alejandro won the men's shot put 'B' section with a throw of 49'-11.75” (15.23M). Sean Reagan threw the shot put 45'-8” (13.92M) for sixth place.
 
The Rams and Belles will begin the outdoor season on Saturday, Feb 24
