Game 1 Final Box  //   Game 2 Final Box

SAN ANGELO, Texas
Kacie Easley hit .833 with a home run and three RBIs to help guide the Angelo State softball team to a pair of nonconference victories over Texas A&M International on Tuesday at the ASU Softball Complex. The No. 8 Rambelles earned a 13-7 victory in Game 1 followed by a 7-1 win in Game 2.

As a team, the Rambelles (14-3) combined for 22 hits – seven going for extra bases – and 20 runs. DeeshanaLynn Tafiti blasted her eighth home run of the season and now has 32 RBIs on the year, both team and conference bests. The Belles' starting pitchers combined for 16 strikeouts and allowed just one walk on the day.

“Our team swung the bats well, and it's certainly good to be back at home,” Angelo State head coach Travis Scott said. “Also our starting pitching threw the ball well today. Aside from one inning, Claire (Molina) had a great day, and Mary Kate (McKay) continues to keep the ball down and record outs.”

ASU scored seven runs in the first two innings to build a 7-0 lead in Game 1 over the Dustdevils (7-19). Tafiti highlighted the offensive attack with a two-run double in the first and a two-run homer in the second.

The Dustdevils attempted to climb back into the contest scoring seven runs over a three-inning stretch, but the Rambelles were with them swing-for-swing. ASU would score six runs which featured a solo blast from Easley off the scoreboard in centerfield to help earn a 13-7 victory.

Claire Molina would earn the win for ASU, improving to 7-2 on the year. The senior lefty struck out a season-high nine batters and had just one walk on the day.

The Belles jumped out to an early 4-0 lead after one inning, and that was all starting pitcher Mary Kate McKay would need in her 6.0 inning outing. The Madill, Okla., native struck out six, scattered just seven hits and only allowed one run en route to her seventh win of the season.

Morgan Spearman led off the game with a double to right field and scored on an RBI single from Tafiti. ASU would go on to load the bases and April Breshears hit a comebacker up the middle to score Easley. Chelsey Walters then drew a bases-loaded walk followed by a Brittney Davis RBI-single.

A then erupted for three runs in the fourth which started with a Davis double to left field. The speedy outfielder from Manor would advance to third on a wild pitch and eventually score on a throwing error.  Spearman would single and also scored on a TAMIU throwing error. The final run of the game would come from the bat of Easley, who hit a single through the right side to score Lauren Smith from second.

Angelo State returns to the ASU Softball Complex for its conference opener against Cameron on Friday at 5:30 p.m.
