ANGELO STATE BASEBALL

SAN ANGELO, Texas – Angelo State remains a top-10 team for the third straight week.

The Rams, who were ranked No. 4 in the nation last week, come in at No. 9 in the Collegiate Baseball Poll after splitting their four-game Lone Star Conference opening series at Texas A&M-Kingsville. ASU lost the first two games, but salvaged a series split by taking the final two games at Nolan Ryan Field. The Rams outscored the Javelinas 15-13 in the series (1-4, 2-3, 6-3, 6-3) and have still not lost a series this season.

ASU remains at No. 21 in the D2BaseballNews.com rankings, but have been ejected from the top-30 of the College Baseball Lineup poll after being ranked No. 22 last week. The Rams are ranked No. 15 by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association which releases its poll later in the week.

St. Mary's (22-5) is the only other Texas university in the Collegiate Baseball poll and comes in at No. 11. The Rattlers, who took a 10-1 loss to Texas A&M-Kingsville last Tuesday, remain at No. 2 in the College Baseball Lineup rankings. The Javelinas (12-5, 2-2 LSC) remain unranked despite an impressive week against ASU and St. Mary's.

Angelo State (18-6, 2-2 LSC) returns home this weekend with a four-game series against the University of the Incarnate Word at Foster Field. The Rams are 10-1 at home and are outscoring their opponents 146-77 this season. ASU is 11-8 all-time against the Cardinals and 6-3 against them in San Angelo. UIW won last year's series 3-1 and is this year's preseason LSC champion. ASU has not won a series over the Cardinals since taking doubleheader in April of 2006.
