SAN ANGELO, Texas – The 18th-ranked Angelo State baseball team pounded out 14 hits and rolled to a series-opening 9-4 non-conference win over Central Oklahoma on Friday at Foster Field.

Jake Feckley (3-0) went six innings in his fourth start of the season, striking out six and scattering seven hits as the Rams (15-3) remain unbeaten at home (9-0) going into Saturday's doubleheader. Lee Neumann and Ryan Greer led the Rams with three hits each, while Neumann had a team-leading three runs batted in – including two on his second triple of the season.

Zach Cohen, Andrew LaCombe and Doug Snover each added two hits, while Toby Semler and Quaid McKinnon had one hit. McKinnon had a first-inning RBI to add to his team-leading 16 RBI this season. The Rams also took advantage of seven walks and three errors by the Bronchos in the win. The Rams scored runs in each of the first four innings, including three runs scored in the second and third innings. ASU's first three-run inning was started by LaCombe leading off with a triple and included Brett Parsons scoring on a balk call.

Austin Church, Michael Lange and Jake Albert each pitched one inning after Feckley's day ended and didn't allow UCO (9-6) to get a hit in the final three frames. Lange, who started and earned Tuesday's 2-0 win over Texas A&M International, struck out two Bronchos while Albert and Church each had one strikeout each in effective relief work.

Central Oklahoma's Uriah Fisher claims the loss after giving up eight runs on eight hits in four innings against the Rams. Fisher struck out two, while reliever Aaron Rosborough fanned five in three innings of work.

Eric Garza was UCO's lone batter with two hits, going 2-for-2 with and adding a walk to his stat line. Kevin Blue, who came into the game hitting .500 through 56 at-bats, went 1-for-4 against the Rams, while Austin Rycroft had the Bronchos' main offensive highlight with a two-run home run to left field.

Angelo State's win takes its program's overall wins total to 280 and brings the all-time series against Central Oklahoma to 15-16 in the favor of the Bronchos.

Quotes

Kevin Brooks  //  Angelo State head coach
On the Rams' offensive production in Friday's 9-4 win over UCO:
We have been a little anemic at the plate lately, so it was a refreshing sight to see us come out and swing the bats like we did. They had some defensive miscues, but we keep telling our guys that if you hit it on the ground then errors can happen. Most people at this level can catch fly balls on a consistent basis but if you keep putting good swings on the ball and hitting it hard on the ground then good things can happen. We took advantage of the mistakes and got out there early.

On Jake Feckley's pitching performance against UCO:
He came out and battled like he has all year for us. He made the pitches he needed to and did went out and won the game like we expect him to do.

Lee Neumann  //  ASU junior outfielder
On the Rams' offensive production in Friday's 9-4 win over UCO:
Coach has been preaching to us that we need to start hitting the ball the other way. They pitched to our approach tonight and we didn't miss them.

Zach Cohen  //  ASU senior shortstop
On Jake Feckley's pitching performance against UCO:
Jake is an unbelievable pitcher who goes out there and challenges every hitter that he faces. He lets the defense work and that's proving to be winning baseball with him out there.

Jake Feckley  //  ASU sophomore pitcher
On his approach on the mound in Friday's win over UCO:
I tried to attack the hitters and let the defense work for me. There was a tight zone, but it was consistent. I fell behind in some counts and wound up giving up some runs that I wasn't very happy about. Our offense did a great job tonight though and gave me and the defense some room for error.
