Snover Named to CoSIDA Capital One Academic All-District Team

Doug Snover

SAN ANGELO, Texas – Doug Snover has been named to the CoSIDA Capital One Academic All-District 6 team after producing a great season on and off the baseball field.

Snover, a senior from Tempe, Ariz., has started all 55 games at second base for the Rams this season and hit .306 in helping lead ASU to the Lone Star Conference championship. He maintains a 3.94 grade point average as a Business Management major at Angelo State and will graduate on Saturday.

“It's been an extremely positive year for me,” said Snover, who was also named to the LSC's all-academic team. “Coming off last year's injury, I really couldn't ask for much more. My numbers didn't exactly match my expectations, but I feel like I've been able to help the team in different ways throughout the year. I've really enjoyed the experience and am really looking forward to keeping our season going.

“It wasn't an easy semester with a lot of school work to be done, but my professors did a great job of working with me through the baseball schedule. It was an overall great year.”

Snover is second in the conference with 21 stolen bases this season and also had 40 singles, 13 doubles, 32 runs batted in, 44 runs scored and three home runs.

“He is having a tremendous season for us and has really established himself as a leader on and off the field,” said ASU head coach Kevin Brooks of Snover.

Snover is one of three LSC players to be named to the team along with Cameron's Brad Blumer and Mitch Wolfe of Eastern New Mexico. The national CoSIDA All-American team will be announced later this month. Snover joins Bradley Durst (2008) and Jason Morriss (2010) as the only other Angelo State baseball players to earn the Academic All-District honor.
