WARRENSBURG, Mo – Angelo State is making its third NCAA Division II postseason appearance since the program was started in 2005.
Kevin Brooks has been the Rams' head coach for each of the eight seasons and has led the ASU baseball program to 305 wins in that time.
Angelo State (40-15) enters the NCAA DII tournament having received the automatic bid after winning last week's Lone Star Conference Baseball Championship and as the South Central's third seed. The Rams have won 12 of their last 14 outscoring their opponents 122-31 in those games. ASU opens the regional against Southern Arkansas at 7 p.m. on Thursday at
James R. Crane Stadium at Robert N. Tompkins Field.
ASU is hitting .322 for the season with 373 singles, 117 doubles, 36 home runs and 23 triples. The pitching staff carries a 3.72 earned run average through 440.2 innings this season and is holding opponents to a .264 batting average. The pitchers have struck out 356, while walking only 180.
Historically, the Rams enter the regional tournament for the second time as the third seed after also being slotted third in 2009 when they were also playing in Warrensburg, Mo. The Rams were the sixth seed in 2007 when they won the tournament and advanced to their only DII College World Series appearance.
Angelo State Player Notes
OFFENSE

Lee Neumann continues to lead the Angelo State offense and is raking in the postseason honors to prove it. Neumann has been named the LSC's Co-MVP, to the LSC first team and to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association's first-team. The junior center fielder from Brenham is hitting .392 with a team-leading 78 hits, including 19 doubles, nine triples and seven home runs. He also has 45 runs batted in and has 14 two-hit games and 12 three-hit games. He had streaks of 23 games reaching base and also a 15-game hitting streak. His nine triples are the most in program history for a single season, while he is currently seventh in doubles (behind Steven Allred's 28 in 2007) and one home run away from entering the top-10 in ASU history.

Ryan Greer leads the Rams with 56 RBI and 29 stolen bases and is among the leaders in every other category. The junior from Glendale, Arizona is hitting .368 with nine doubles, five triples and six home runs. He has 20 multiple hit games, 15 multi-RBI games and is currently on a six-game hitting streak. Greer ranks third all-time in triples for a season at ASU and is only three RBI away from knocking Ronnie Gaines (2006) out of the top-10 in the category. His stolen-base total ranks fourth all-time.

Toby Semler comes into the NCAA DII postseason with 75 hits and 39 RBI. The junior from Mansfield has a .355 batting average and has 18 doubles, three home runs and two triples. He is a first-team LSC performer and has had 23 multi-hit games and 12 multi-RBI games.

Quaid McKinnon is coming off the Lone Star Conference Baseball Championship where he was named the tournament's MVP. The junior first baseman is hitting .351 with 44 singles, 16 doubles, three triples and three RBI. He leads the Rams with 40 walks and is second on the team with 46 RBI.

Andrew LaCombe has thrown out more runners than any other ASU catcher in a single season with 25 in his first year behind the plate for the Rams. The junior captain from Southlake is also a producer at the plate with a .338 batting average and 38 RBI. He has 38 singles, 12 doubles and three home runs coming into the NCAA DII tournament.

Doug Snover earned CoSIDA Academic All-District honors last week and comes into the tournament with a .306 batting average. The senior second baseman has 13 doubles, three home runs and 32 RBI.

Tate Allison enters the tournament following a huge two-run home run in the LSC's tournament championship game. Allison has hit five home runs this season and has 10 in his two-year career at ASU. Allison is a career .271 hitter for the Rams and has provided great defense in right field this season.

Zach Cohen is ASU's career leader after being hit by 41 pitches in his two seasons. Cohen has been hit 16 times this season and has also recorded 37 hits and 22 RBI. The senior captain has seven doubles and one home run entering the regional tournament.

Brett Parsons is a LSC first-team designated hitter who has continued to raise his offensive production as the season progressed. The senior from The Woodlands is fourth on the team with a .352 batting average and has driven in 42 runs. He has four home runs and 11 doubles.
PITCHING

Michael Lange (9-0) is a first-team all-Lone Star Conference pitcher after ending the regular season with seven wins before adding two more victories in the LSC tournament. The junior from Columbus, Neb., brings a 2.88 ERA into the regional tournament and has struck out 46 and walked only 11 through 65.2 innings. Lange is fourth all-time for a single season with his nine wins behind Cody Broussard's 12 in 2007. Broussard finished that season with a 12-2 record.

Austin Church leads the Rams pitching staff with 26 appearances this season and possesses a 2.90 ERA through 40.1 innings. He has recorded a 3-2 record and has struck out 44.

Michael Weatherly is a LSC first-team relief pitcher and set the ASU single-season saves record with nine. The junior from Mesquite has struck out 44 in 35.0 innings.

James Conlee (6-1) enters the regionals tournament coming off a win in the LSC tournament over Tarleton State in a game that was interrupted twice by weather and lasted almost 12 hours in real time. The junior from Georgetown has struck out 35 in 64.2 innings. He is fourth all-time in appearances in a career at ASU with 44 and is 10th with 11 career wins.

Rick Reyna (5-4) is coming off a great start in the LSC tournament against Tarleton State where he did not get a decision. The senior from Mission has struck out a team-leading 60 opponents and struck out 110 in his two seasons at Angelo State.

Matt Rechkemmer (3-0) has made five starts this season and brings in a 3.38 ERA to the NCAA DII tournament. He has struck out 18 in 32.2 innings and is holding opponents to a .216 average.

Jake Feckley enters the regional tournament with 45 strikeouts in 55.2 innings of work this season. Feckley, who was named to the LSC's second team as a starter, has walked only 14 and leads the Rams with two complete games in his first season at ASU.

SOUTHERN ARKANSAS MULERIDERS
The following is a scouting report on Southern Arkansas which comes from Magnolia, Ark. The Muleriders are 3-0 all-time against Angelo State, including winning two games last season in contests played in Fort Worth and then beating ASU 7-0 in the Mulerider Classic this season. The win over ASU this season put a halt to a perfect 6-0 start to the Rams' season.
Southern Arkansas finished the season with a 36-15 overall record and won the Great American Conference with a record of 17-7. SAU, which is making its fifth straight trip to the NCAA DII postseason tournament and earned an at-large bid because the GAC is not an automatic qualifying conference, was 17-2 at its home field in Magnolia, Ark. and finished with a 5-1 record in neutral field games. SAU is hitting .316 as a team through 51 games played and has 104 doubles, 10 triples and 19 home runs.
The Muleriders, which has outscored opponents 366-231, have stolen 84 bases and have only been thrown out 16 times. They are 26-1 after leading after six innings, 21-0 after seven and 23-0 when leading going into the ninth inning.
Jason Dahl led the Muleriders' offense this season after hitting .385 with 52 singles, 13 doubles, two triples, two home runs and 32 runs batted in. Dahl, who is a switch-hitting outfielder from Batesville, Ark., also stole 13 bases and walked 22 times. Third baseman Brady Capshaw added 60 hits and 45 RBI for SAU this season, while David Allday (a Texarkana native and Kansas State transfer) led the team with 56 RBI and 21 doubles. Rafael Thomas' .367 batting average and Trey Buck's .344 account for the five Muleriders who hit over .300 this season. Thomas is a 5-foot-8 senior out of Lufkin who started his collegiate career at Lubbock Christian and is currently on a team-leading eight-game hitting streak, while Buck is a senior short stop who is a switch-hitter from Crosby who played at Kansas State before becoming a Mulerider.
James Baune (7-1) and Doug Shields (8-2) lead the Southern Arkansas starting pitching, while Justin Thomas (5-2) has 11 saves and a 0.69 earned run average through 39.0 innings pitched in 25 appearances. Thomas is a junior left-handed pitcher out of White Oak who started his collegiate career at Navarro College.
Shields, like ASU closer Michael Weatherly, is a right-hander from Mesquite. He has faced the Rams twice in the last two seasons and has not allowed a run in 11 innings. Baune stands at 6-foot-3 and is a sophomore out of Rockwall, Ark.
