Angelo State Volleyball to Host Position, All-Skills Camps

Chuck Waddington

SAN ANGELO, Texas – The Angelo State volleyball team and head coach Chuck Waddington will instruct the Belle Position and All-Skills Camps next week at the Junell Center.

The week begins with a varsity position camp for athletes who will be in high school next year. The camp focuses on specific skill training. The two-day camp (June 4-5) is divided into three different sections, with setters attending camp from 9 a.m. to noon, hitters from 1-4 p.m. and a defensive camp from 6-9 p.m.

“Our position camps are high level camps for experienced players,” Waddington said. “They are the ones who want to take their game to the next level. It's a very competitive environment that is a lot of fun.”

The all-skills camp will run from Wednesday to Friday (June 6-8). The morning session (9 a.m. to noon) is for players entering the fourth through seventh grade, while the afternoon session (1-4 p.m.) is for players entering the eighth grade through their senior year. The camps are built around the focus of individual skill training with the incorporation of team concepts. Players will learn the fundamentals of passing, setting, hitting, serving and defensive positioning.

“The all-skills camp really helps to develop the players who want to improve and learn the game,” Waddington said. “It gives them an overall better feel for what they can do skills wise.”

Each camp costs $150 with a multi-camp discount reducing the price of attending two camps to $275 and three camps to $400. Walk-up registration is available without any additional costs. Information and registration forms for next week's camps can be found at www.asuvolleyball.com.
