SAN ANGELO – The Angelo State volleyball team is through six practice sessions after Wednesday and will face Western Texas College in its first scrimmage on Thursday.
Wednesday saw two practices for the Belles, along with team photos in between. ASU, which found out on Tuesday that it will enter 2012 as the No. 15 ranked team in Division II volleyball, has attacked each practice with enthusiasm.
"Day three is typically the toughest day for every team in the country," ASU head coach
Chuck Waddington said. "Your body is sore and tired and is ready to have a break. We call it the wall and you have to work through it."
ASU will follow a schedule throughout the first two weeks with practices starting at 8:30 a.m. and then a second session at 3 p.m. That schedule will fluctuate some with scrimmages, including this Thursday when the Belles will host Western Texas College at 10 a.m. The Belles are coming off a 31-6 record in 2011 and won their first NCAA Division II tournament match in 20 seasons.
