Soccer Scrimmage

ANGELO STATE SOCCER
SAN ANGELO – The Angelo State soccer team welcomed a club team opponent to the ASU Soccer Field on Thursday for its first scrimmage of the preseason.

The Rambelles performed well, scoring multiple goals and having a strong defensive outing. Seven players were representing ASU for the first time against an opponent and were all give praise by head coach Travis McCorkle following the scrimmage for their effort and execution.

"I think we did really well," ASU freshman Ashley Exford said. "We move the ball around really well and the girls were helping us get used to everything."

"I thought there were some things in the first half that we need to work on, but I thought it was good," ASU head coach Travis McCorkle added. "It was a nice performance in the first half but I think we did a lot better after halftime."

ASU, which has advanced to the postseason the past two seasons, will open its season on Aug. 30 at Texas-Permian Basin before hosting New Mexico Highlands at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 1.
