ANGELO STATE VOLLEYBALL

SAN ANGELO – The Angelo State volleyball team looked across the nets at an unfriendly opponent for the first time this season on Thursday morning as the Belles took on Western Texas College at the Junell Center.

"I think we executed really well," ASU senior Katie Coleman said. "We won all five games which is good and our chemistry was really good."

"I liked that we were pretty solid defensively," ASU head coach Chuck Waddington added. "We dug a ton of balls and didn't let the other team have easy opportunities to score. We also transitioned pretty well out of our digs."

No. 15 ASU took the rest of the day off after the scrimmage and will return on Friday with two practices. The Belles next scrimmage is set for next Wednesday, Aug. 22 at 4 p.m. against Hardin-Simmons in the Junell Center.

Angelo State is coming off a 31-6 record in 2011 and won their first NCAA Division II tournament match in 20 seasons.
