SAN ANGELO – The Angelo State soccer team is through its fifth day of practices after two more sessions on Friday. The Rambelles, who have been one of the top defensive teams in the Lone Star Conference the past couple of seasons, had a good defensive performance in their scrimmage on Thursday. One of the strengths was the play of goalkeepers Danielle Edwards and
Natalie Nielsen.
"We are always out here working on keeper fitness and foot work," Edwards said. "We want to be out here encouraging each other to get better."
"They are really improving on their technique," said Sanchez, who starred at goalkeeper at Eastern New Mexico. "I'm really impressed with what I've seen from them."
Watch the video to the right for interviews with Edwards, Nielsen and ASU assistant coach Stephanie Sanchez who were all hard at work on Friday afternoon going through keeper drills.
ASU, which has advanced to the postseason the past two seasons, will open its season on Aug. 30 at Texas-Permian Basin before hosting New Mexico Highlands at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 1.
