SAN ANGELO – The Angelo State volleyball team took on Hardin-Simmons in its final home scrimmage of the preseason on Wednesday afternoon at the Junell Center. The Belles won each game against HSU and continued working on areas of weakness and rotations.
"I thought we played really well together as a team," ASU junior
Shelbi Goode said. "The team chemistry was really good on the court and we worked hard and had a good match."
"This team served really good and our setter was in kind of a track meet," ASU head coach
Chuck Waddington added. "Once we settled down a little we were able to control the ball more. Our connection with the middle improved in the course of the match and that was a good thing to see."
The Belles, who also played Western Texas College last week in a scrimmage, will wrap up this week with a scrimmage at Texas-Permian Basin on Saturday in their final action against an opponent before the season starts.
Angelo State is coming off a 31-6 record in 2011 and won their first NCAA Division II tournament match in 20 seasons. The Belles open their season at the Rattler-Hilltopper Classic on Aug. 31 with a doubleheader against Southeastern Oklahoma and St. Mary's in San Antonio.
