Six Days Out: Rambelles Continue Defensive Dominance

ANGELO STATE SOCCER
SAN ANGELO – The Angelo State soccer team will go into the 2012 season having not allowed a goal in its three preseason scrimmages after a strong defensive performance against Hardin-Simmons on Friday at the ASU Soccer Field.

“We are sharing the workload on defense and that is making the difference,” ASU head coach Travis McCorkle said. “Our returners have done a great job of making sure the spaces are not there for the attackers to get through. They are closing them down really quick and doing a solid job defensively.”

The Rambelles, who have made the postseason the past two years, continue their practice schedule with single workouts on Saturday and Sunday morning. ASU begins its season at 5 p.m. on Thursday at Texas-Permian Basin in Odessa. The team carries confidence into the season after a strong preseason, but knows that staying focused and working hard is the key to improving from last year's 6-9-4 record.
