No. 13 Belles Drop Back Four Spots in National Poll

SAN ANGELO – The Angelo State volleyball team slipped back four spots in the American Volleyball Coaches Association poll this week to No. 13 after splitting four matches last weekend at the Colorado Premiere Challenge.

The Belles (6-2) were ranked No. 9 in last week's poll after coming in at No. 15 in the preseason poll. Last week's No. 9 ranking was the first time in program history that ASU had been in the top-10 and No. 13 matches the previous high ranking which came in 1992.

Angelo State, which has played all of its matches on the road this season, opens Lone Star Conference play at 7 p.m. on Friday against Cameron (4-4) before playing at 2 p.m. on Saturday against Midwestern State (2-6) at the Junell Center.

“Our focus shifts from national and regional spotlight to our conference schedule,” ASU head coach Chuck Waddington said. “We got beat up a little last weekend and have to get back to what we do well as a team. We are a very good team but we are not so good that we can't be beat if we don't play like we should.”
