SAN ANGELO, Texas – The Angelo State women's basketball game host Texas Woman's in a rare afternoon game at 2 p.m. in Stephens Arena at the Junell Center.
The Belles are 6-6 and 3-3 in Lone Star Conference play after dropping their last two games to Cameron and Midwestern State. Texas Woman's brings in a record of 4-9 overall and 2-5 in conference.
ASU is third in the LSC in field goal percentage and second in field goal percentage defense. The rebounding is still a positive with the Belles coming in third in rebounding margin at a +4.8 and second in both rebounding offense (41.4 per game) and defensive rebounds (29.3 per game).
Three Belles are averaging double-digit points in
Haylee Oliver (13.5),
Leah LeMaire (11.9) and
Lauren Holt (11.8). LeMaire is seven points away from scoring 500 in her career. ASU is scoring 64.4 points per game while holding opponents to 62.6. Oliver and Holt are fourth and fifth, respectively, on the league's rebounding list and Holt still leads in blocked shots at 2.3 per game.
The Pioneers are led by Toree Mason's 10 points per game while Ria Pateraki averages 9.5 per game. TWU is second in the league in scoring defense at 61.8 points per game and third in the LSC 3-point percentage defense.
ASU head coach Sally Walling Brooks will look for career victory 399 on Saturday. She has 243 victories while at ASU and is the program's all-time winningest coach. Brooks is in her 22
nd season as a head coach while being in her 12
th at Angelo State. She coached 10 years at Incarnate Word prior to ASU.
