Danville Qualifies for Indoor National Meet in Triple Jump

SAN ANGELO, Texas –
The Angelo State women's track & field team had an excellent start to its season at the Texas Tech Open with one NCAA Division II automatic mark and two provisional marks.

“We had a great day,” head coach James Reid said after the meet. “Anytime you come away with any qualifiers it is a good day but to get an auto and two in the top five this early in the season it is really exciting.”

Junior transfer Kearah Danville punched her ticket to the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championship meet by winning the triple jump with a jump of 41'-11.25” (12.78m). It is an NCAA Division II automatic mark and it is the top mark in the nation this season.

Theresa Sue won the women's long jump with a NCAA Division II provisional mark of 18'-11.25” (5.77m). Her mark is the fifth best in the nation in the long jump.

Jaylen Rodgers recorded the second NCAA Division II mark for the Rambelles. The sophomore won the 800m in a time of 2:16.12. Rodgers' time ranks her fifth in NCAA Division II. She also placed sixth in the triple jump with a jump of 36'-1.50” (11.01m).

Kati Holly opened her season up in the high jump with a second place finish by clearing 5'-4.25” (1.64m)

Jasmine Ambowode ran 8.85 in the 55m hurdles for a fourth place finish. The redshirt freshman also finished fifth in the triple jump with a mark of 36'-2.75”(11.04m)
In the 600-yard race, Lexi Brooks was seventh in a time of 1:30.97.

The Rambelles 4x400m of Brooks, Rodgers, Sue and Ambowode crossed the line in a time of 4:03.92 to place ninth.
