Rambelles Return to Lubbock for Meet

SAN ANGELO, Texas – The No. 23 Angelo State women's track & field team is after its third strong performance at Lubbock in the Red Raider Open this Saturday.

The Rambelles dropped one spot in the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association rankings this week. It is the third meet that ASU will run at Lubbock and the final before the LSC Indoor Conference Championships on Feb. 23-24.

Kearah Danville is still the No. 1 ranked triple jumper in NCAA Division II with a mark of 41'-11.25” (12.78m). The junior is also No. 11 in the long jump with an 18'-7.75” (5.68m).

The three other Rambelles dropped slightly in the national rankings. Jaylen Rodgers fell from No. 2 to No. 4in the 800m. She has a season best time of 2:13.05 ran on Jan. 18. Jordan Gray went from No. 11 to No. 15 in the 60-meter hurdles while Theresa Sue moved down only one to No. 8 in the long jump.

A total of 19 Rambelles, the largest group this season, will be in competition this weekend.   Emeline Crutcher and Ashlie Francis are opening their season this week. Crutcher will run the mile and 3,000m while Francis will throw the shot put.

The meet starts on Saturday at 10 a.m. with the long jump and weight throw. The running events will begin at 11 a.m. with the 55-meter hurdles.
